Melb Zoo's Angry penguin delays graduation

Every year a few penguin chicks hatch with personalities and characteristics that stand out from the rest at Melbourne Zoo.

This year it was Angry, whose aggressive nature delayed the little penguins' graduation from feeding school by a couple of weeks.

"He wasn't as chilled out and easy to train" Wildsea spokesman James Uren told reporters.

The five baby penguins have spent the past three months in the feeding school learning how to eat food given to them by the zookeepers.

To celebrate their graduation the five chicks made their first plunge into the adult pool at Melbourne Zoo on Wednesday.

In their new enclosure they will be hand fed about 12 small fish each day so keepers can track their consumption and administer medication.
