Melb woman followed, indecently assaulted

Police are looking for a man who indecently assaulted a woman in her apartment building after being followed from a train station.

The woman in her 20s got off a train at Murrumbeena on April 23 and started walking along Murrumbeena Road, where police believe a man began following her.

Police say the man knocked on the door of an apartment nearby and told the woman he was having trouble using a communal washing machine and that he was new to the building.

In the laundry, the man grabbed the woman and indecently assaulted her.

When she pushed him away, he continued to touch himself inappropriately, police say.

The man is described as Indian or sub-continental, aged in his 20s, about 165cm tall with a slim build and short black hair.

He was wearing a maroon zip jacket with grey sleeves, grey tracksuit pants and black Adidas runners.
