Melb pedestrian struck by car and killed

A pedestrian has been struck and killed by a car in Melbourne's northwest.
The man was killed while crossing a road in St Albans on Wednesday night with the male car driver now assisting police with their inquiries.
Earlier on Wednesday an 85-year-old woman died in hospital after the car she was a passenger in smashed into a tree in Pascoe Vale South

Victoria's road toll is now 260 - which is 34 more than for the same period in 2015.
