Melbourne man supported ISIS in tweets

A Melbourne man threatened to kill police and urged jihadist group ISIS to behead captives in a series of hate-filled Twitter rants.

"An officer will die," Khodr Moustafa Taha tweeted to Victoria Police in November last year.

He also sent abusive tweets to Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Treasurer Joe Hockey, and tweeted support for Sydney siege gunman Man Haron Monis.

The 35-year-old Brunswick man pleaded guilty on Thursday to 10 charges in Melbourne Magistrates Court, including using a carriage service to threaten, possessing swords and ammunition and assaulting his mother.

Among Taha's other messages on Twitter were racist remarks to US President Barack Obama and abuse directed at Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews.

On another occasion, he tweeted to Victoria Police a picture of Russian President Vladimir Putin holding a gun, and told them, "I'm going to hurt your officers."

Frustrated by a delayed train, Taha sent a picture of a smashed CCTV camera at a Melbourne station and tweeted it to Metro Trains, saying, "Next time it will be a life."

Another of his tweets urged ISIS (also called Islamic State) to behead its captives.

"As soon as you get them execute them film it send it to the parents of the victim," the tweet read.

Taha also punched his mother in December, giving her a black eye.

He later sent a text message to his sister, saying, "I should've taken her life."

Taha's offences were between October and December. He was arrested on January 2.

He will remain on bail to face court again in February, and will be sentenced at a later date.
