A car component factory worker with limited English was underpaid almost $16,000 over four years after she agreed to be paid less than the minimum wage.

The Vietnamese migrant was a worker at Melbourne's Katjen Enterprise Pty Ltd, which was ordered to give her back pay and undertake manager training.

"Employers are not able to enter into agreements that undercut employees' minimum lawful entitlements," said Fair Work Ombudsman Natalie James.
