Melb collapsed pit to be filled

Work has begun to fill a giant hole at a Melbourne building site where a landslip caused damage to nearby homes and forced residents to evacuate.
The City of Monash council said a plan developed by Worksafe would begin on Thursday with loads of approved fill material to be trucked into the Mount Waverley site.
A large section of the wall at the site's pit partially collapsed on July 16, forcing eight residents from a nearby block of townhouses to flee.
