Melb 24-hour transport trial extended
AAP
The Victorian government is extending a trial of all-night public transport on weekends for six months that will increase the overall cost to more than $100 million.
Labor had already been forced to increase the project's multi-million budget after initially failing to factor in the need for additional security.
"The six-month extension (to June 2017) will give us a chance to properly assess the trial over a full year and give certainty to event organisers and passengers in the lead-up to the new year," Transport Minister Jacinta Allan said in statement on Tuesday.
