The Royal Flying Doctor Service is investigating a landing mishap at a Melbourne airport.

The front wheel of one of its planes collapsed as it touched down at Essendon Airport during a non-emergency patient transport at 6.20pm on Tuesday.

"None of the passengers were injured and all disembarked the aircraft in the normal manner," Royal Flying Doctor Service said in a statement.

The incident came hours after another mishap involving a Royal Flying Doctor Service plane at Moomba in South Australia.

Both incidents are being investigated.
