Man rescued from suspicious Melbourne fire

An elderly man has been rescued from a suspicious fire in inner Melbourne.

The two-storey terrace house in Fitzroy North caught alight on Saturday afternoon, causing damage valued at $200,000.

A 90-year-old man was in the house and was taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters said the cause of the fire was suspicious and under investigation by police.
