Man killed while crossing Vic highway

A man who was crossing a highway in Melbourne's east has died after being hit by a car, police say.

Officers have been told the man in his 50s was crossing Maroondah Highway in Ringwood on Friday night when he was struck by a car.

The man died at the scene, police said.

The driver of the car, also believed to be in his 50s, is being questioned by police.
