Murder charge after Melbourne 'hit-run'

A man has been charged with murder after allegedly running down another man in Melbourne's west.

It comes after police were called to a Deer Park street on Friday night following reports a driver was behaving erratically.

There they found a 43-year-old local man dead on the road.

A 48-year-old from Melton West was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with his murder.

He had been assisting police with their inquiries after the homicide squad began investigations.

Police say the two men were known to each other.

The accused killer will front the Melbourne Magistrates Court later on Saturday.
