A child molester who described his sexual assault of a six-year-old girl as a "little game" could walk from jail in less than a year.

Cornelus Bezuidenhout, 75, was sentenced by the Victorian County Court on Monday after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault by touching a child under 16.

He admitted to sexually touching the girl on two occasions in 2017, over and under clothes, once in a car near her home and another time at a house.

In a police interview in January, the man claimed it was a "little game" and that the child knew what she was doing.

"It was a game she wanted to play," Bezuidenhout said.

"She knew exactly what she was doing."

Justice Gabriele Cannon said the civil engineer's offending was "repugnant" and "deluded".

"You grossly breached the trust of the complainant and her parents," she said.

"What you said was tinged with blaming the six-year-old."

South African-born Bezuidenhout could face deportation once released.

He was jailed for 22 months but could be free after his 10 month non-parole period.

Bezuidenhout has been added to the sex offenders registry for 15 years.
