Man charged with rape after home invasion

An 18-year-old man has been charged with seven counts of rape following an alleged home invasion in Melbourne.

The charges relate to an alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in the early hours of Thursday morning at her Cheltenham home.

The Cheltenham man handed himself into police on Saturday morning and will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday afternoon.

Along with the seven charges of rape, the man has been charged with seven counts of indecent assault and one count of aggravated burglary.
