Police are treating the death of a 25-year-old man in a house near Geelong as suspicious.

Police say there were no signs of forced entry at the home in Clifton Springs, where the man's body was found on Monday morning.

Senior Sergeant Shane O'Connell told reporters the man's body was discovered by a relative who had visited to drop off firewood.

"The nature of the way he was located and the trauma injuries that he sustained tend to suggest that his death is suspicious and it is being treated as such at this stage until proven otherwise," Sen Sgt O'Connell told reporters.

He would not say what the man's injuries were.
