Men in court over fatal Melbourne shooting

Two men have faced courts in Melbourne and Sydney charged over a fatal triple shooting allegedly sparked by gang rivalry.

Mikhael Myko, 25, is charged with seven offences including attempted murder over the March 1 shooting at a boxing tournament in Kensington.

Ben Togiai, 30, was killed in the shooting and two other men, aged 32 and 34, were injured.

Myko faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday after being extradited from Sydney.

Myko, from Pascoe Vale, was arrested in Sydney's Bankstown on Friday night alongside Brunswick man Abdullah El Nasher, 27.

El Nasher had to be treated for several days at Liverpool Hospital but was taken to Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday where Victoria Police were given a green light to extradition him to Melbourne.

El Nasher will be charged with murder ahead of his scheduled court appearance in Melbourne on Wednesday.

His older brother Ali El Nasher, 28, is still wanted.

The shooting is one of five fatal gun crimes across Melbourne in less than two weeks.

On Monday evening, Paguir Pan, 19, chose not to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court charged with the shooting murder of Winis Apet at Springvale.

Pan is due to return to court over the shooting on Wednesday.

On March 3, Mitat Rasimi, aged in his 50s, died after crashing his car into a pole at Dandenong, but police believe gunshots he received earlier caused his death.

And on March 4, two men - Ali Ali, 28, and Deniz Hasan, 40 - died after being shot at Meadow Heights.

Police continue to investigate each shooting but insist there is no risk to public safety and that the shootings are confined to crime groups.
