Man dies trying to cross Vic train tracks

An elderly man has died after he was struck by a train at a rail crossing in Melbourne's southeast.
The man had begun crossing the tracks at Middle Brighton station about 10pm on Saturday when a signal came on alerting people of a city-bound train.
Police believe the man was unable to cross in time and he died at the scene.
