Man dies after hit twice on Vic freeway

A man has died after being hit by at least two cars on a Victorian freeway.

The unidentified man stepped onto the Peninsula Freeway in Dromana just before 8.50pm on Thursday, police say.

He died at the scene, while a 41-year-old woman is helping police with what happened.

His death brings the state's road toll to 88. It was 83 at the same time last year.
