Man denies alleged Melbourne CBD assaults

A man accused of indecently touching three women in Melbourne's CBD on the same day is denying the charges.

Lachlan McKinnon, 33, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday on six charges, accusing him of assaulting three women on February 15.

His lawyer Beth McKenzie said he denied the charges, which allege McKinnon touched two women on the buttocks, unlawfully assaulted a third woman and tried to grab her breasts.

Ms McKenzie said McKinnon does not dispute being depicted on CCTV footage but denied the allegations against him.

"My instructions are the allegations are denied," she told the court.

But magistrate Belinda Wallington described the case against the accused as "fairly compelling".

McKinnon, who appeared in court via videolink, was ordered to reappear in the same court on August 1 for a committal case conference.
