Man charged with assaulting teen on tram

A man has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenager on a Melbourne tram.

Police say a 15-year-old girl was assaulted by a man who sat next to her on the number 64 tram at Caulfield on Sunday afternoon.

The girl got off the tram at the next stop and reported the matter to police, who arrested a Caulfield man, 37, shortly after.

He is expected to be charged on summons with sexual assault and unlawful assault.
