Man charged over Victorian pub siege

A man has been charged over a day-long stand-off with police at a country Victoria pub that shut down a highway for hours.

The 42-year-old man spent about 10 hours holed up in the Bellbird Hotel, in East Gippsland, with a gun on Monday, police allege.

The man, arrested that night, will appear in Bairnsdale Magistrates Court on September 6 charged with criminal damage, being on a premises unlawfully, failing to stop and firearms offences.
