Man charged over Vic boarding house blaze

A man has been charged after allegedly starting a fire at a Victorian boarding house with five people inside.

The 38-year-old man, of no fixed address, was charged on Saturday with multiple offences including criminal damage by fire with intent to endanger life, intentionally cause serious injury and aggravated burglary.

Emergency services attended the blaze at the double-storey property on May Street, Bundoora after 3am on Saturday, where five people fled before three went to hospital.

The accused will face Melbourne Magistrates Court on Sunday.
