Man charged over Melbourne carjacking

A Melbourne man has been charged after allegedly threatening another man with a knife, taking off with his car and leading police on a chase.

The victim was sitting in his parked car at King Street about 12.20am on Saturday when he was confronted by the knife-wielding man, police say.

The man then allegedly took the car and led police officers on a chase, which had to be stopped for safety reasons.

Police later caught up with him after he tried to carjack another man at Seaford, some 35km southeast of the CBD.

The 28-year-old Frankston was charged with a number of offences including carjacking, armed robbery and conduct endangering life and is due to front Melbourne Magistrates Court on Saturday.
