Man suffers serious burns in explosion at South Melbourne worksite

A man has been burnt in an explosion at a construction site in South Melbourne.
Firefighters were called to York Street around 12.30pm.

The Melbourne Fire Brigade said it appeared the worker had been cutting through some sort of building material when it exploded.
The man is in a serious condition after he suffered burns to his chest during the explosion.
Ambulance Victoria says he was rushed to The Alfred Hospital.
Work Safe has been called to investigate.
