Man bailed over alleged car boot murder
A Melbourne man who allegedly helped burn a murdered man's body in the boot of a car has appeared in court.
Ante Bacak is charged with being an accessory to the murder of Kenan Balikel, a father of five whose charred remains were found in his unregistered Peugeot at Diggers Rest on October 31 last year.
Police allege Bacak, 45, helped dispose of Mr Balikel's body after another man killed him.
It's alleged he helped torch Mr Balikel's car at Diggers Rest while the man's corpse lay inside the boot.
Bacak is also accused of making a false statement to protect Mr Balikel's alleged murderer, court documents reveal.
The Kealba man has been bailed after appearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.
His lawyer Robert Stary told the court Bacak's alleged involvement came after injuries were inflicted on Mr Balikel.
Bacak will reappear in court on June 5.
A 42-year-old Keilor Downs man has been charged with the murder of Mr Balikel but is yet to front court.
