Man arrested in WA over Vic shooting

West Australian police have arrested a man wanted over a shooting in regional Victoria and a clandestine drugs laboratory.

Victoria Police said early on Wednesday that Dean Guest had been arrested by WA police in Ravensthorpe in the state's south on Tuesday night.

The 50-year-old is likely to face court there on Wednesday and Victorian detectives are expected to travel to WA.

The arrest follows a shooting at a property in Castlemaine on Friday afternoon which led to a man fronting the local hospital with a gunshot wound.

He remains in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police allegedly found a clandestine laboratory on the property and issued a warrant for Guest in relation to trafficking and manufacturing drugs.
