Machine guns for elite Victorian police

Victoria's elite police force will reportedly be armed with more than 200 machine guns to help counter terrorist attacks.
The force is taking delivery of more than 200 German-made SIG Sauer machine guns fitted with silencers, the Sunday Herald Sun reports.
Victoria Police did not confirm the weapons upgrade, but said its specialist Special Operations Group and Critical Incident Response Team have received, or will soon be receiving, new equipment as part of a standard process to replace equipment at the end of its life.
