Car impounded after driver caught allegedly doing double speed limit

A 38-year-old man has had his car impounded after he was caught allegedly driving twice the speed limit in Melbourne's west last week.
Police were on patrol when they caught the man allegedly doing 139km/hr in a 60km/hr zone along Doherty Road in Laverton North on Friday.
He was pulled over before undergoing a preliminary oral fluid test which allegedly indicated a positive result.

The driver is expected to be charged on summons with several driving offences including drug driving offences.
His Volkswagen Golf was also impounded for 30 days, at a cost of $995.
