BOURKE STREET MALL INCIDENT - THE KEY INFORMATION:

* A stolen car runs down multiple passengers along Bourke Street in the CBD

* Four dead, including a 10-year-old child

* More than 15 injured; five critical

* Man arrested, near corner of Bourke and William Streets; suspect shot in arm by police

* Assailant in non-life threatening condition in hospital under police guard

* Police say the attack is not terror-related

* Five victims taken to the Royal Children's Hospital, a three-month old is in the operating theatre, a two-year-old is in intensive care, others are stable.

* Seven taken to The Alfred Hospital; two critical, two serious, three stable

* 10 taken to Royal Melbourne, no condition reports released yet

* A number of people have also presented at hospitals in shock after witnessing the incident

* The assailant linked stabbing in the early hours of this morning in Windsor
