Kangaroo hops into Melbourne café, sparking commotion at breakfast time
Staff at an Epping café had an unexpected breakfast guest this morning, in the form of a kangaroo that hopped into the shopping centre eatery.
The kangaroo had hopped through Epping Plaza, north of Melbourne, and had entered Goldies Coffee House by the times rescuers were called.
A Helping Hands Animal Rescue volunteer soon arrived, and video shows her slowly approaching the small male kangaroo before catching him in a blanket.
The kangaroo and volunteer can both be seen shaking their heads throughout the video, which the rescue group said is a form of communication for kangaroos.
He has since been nicknamed Goldie and, although he had some minor injuries, has been released to a safe area with other kangaroos.
Helping Hands Animal rescue has appealed for donations to allow for further rescue work, and provided direct deposit details BSB 732109 and account number 695006.
