John Nikolic charged in Fiji court: paper

Disgraced horse trainer John Nikolic has been charged in a Fiji court with drugs and firearms charges.

He appeared in Nadi Magistrates Court on Friday and was charged with one count of importation of illicit drugs, one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs, and one count of failure to declare arms and ammunitions to a customs officer, the Herald Sun reports.

He was discharged from hospital last week after he had downed a substance and lay in a coma for a number of days.

His wife Yvette Nikolic was charged with the same offences on Wednesday in the Lautoka High Court.

They are both scheduled to appear in Lautoka's High Court on July 17, the paper reports.

The drama began on June 22 when Fijian police raided the couple's yacht Shenanigans and allegedly found 12.9 kilograms of cocaine and 34.4 grams of methamphetamine and cocaine tablets, said to be worth more than $20 million.

They also failed to declare two handguns and ammunition to customs officials.
