FORMER ESSENDON COACH JAMES HIRD'S LEGAL BATTLES
APRIL 2013 - Hird interviewed by ASADA and the AFL as part of an investigation into the use of prohibited substances
AUGUST 2013 - The AFL suspends Hird for 12 months among several punishments for the club's 2011-12 supplements program
JUNE 2014 - 34 players served "show cause" notices by ASADA on the basis of the information Hird provided in his interview; Hird applies to Federal Court for injunction against ASADA's investigation on the basis it is unlawful.
SEPTEMBER 2014 - Federal Court dismisses Hird's application
OCTOBER 2014 - Hird appeals decision
JANUARY 2015 - Appeal dismissed
AUGUST 2015 - Hird launches legal action in Victorian Supreme Court against Essendon's insurer Chubb for refusing to pay legal costs arising from his Federal Court cases
FEBRUARY 2016 - Hird takes the stand as his trial against Chubb begins.
