Identity of Melbourne tip body unknown

The identity of a man whose body was found at a Melbourne tip is still unknown.

Police are awaiting an autopsy report to determine the cause of death of the man, whose semi-naked body was discovered on Tuesday morning.

The man's identity remained unknown, a Victoria Police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

A worker thought he found a mannequin among household and industrial waste at the Hampton Park landfill before making the grim realisation and calling police.

Police believe the man was brought in on a truck on Tuesday morning. He had no apparent injuries.
