Around 200 people have been evacuated from Federation Square in Melbourne's CBD after a gas leak (MFB)
About 200 people have been evacuated from Federation Square in Melbourne’s CBD due to a gas leak.
The Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) were called to the landmark about noon, after a natural gas pipe located in one of the shops broke.

The leak has been controlled, however people have been advised to avoid the area until further notice.
Firefighters have removed any potential ignition sources and there is a minimal risk of explosion, the MFB said.
Investigations into the cause of incident are ongoing.
