A NSW man who sold a faulty hoverboard which burnt down a Melbourne home last month may face legal action.

Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) is investigating the seller, who sold 27 hoverboards online and three at a pop up store in Casula Mall, NSW, in December last year.

Spokeswoman Sharon Rainsbury says the seller is working to contact all his customers to recall the faulty products, and the ESV is yet to make a decision about whether to take legal action against him.
