Alcohol and speed blamed for horror crash that killed three

An 18-year-old girl who was among three people killed in a horror crash has been remembered as “bundle of light” who will be deeply missed.

Darcey Kramme, 18, was one of three people who died overnight Friday when the car she was driving came off the road and hit a tree at Lakes Entrance near Michelson Court.

Lakes Entrance boy Joshua Lavery, 17, and Lake Tyers Beach man Brett Harvey, 36, were passengers in the car and were also killed.

All three died on impact.

“I can’t come to terms with the fact you’re happy, energetic, smiling little soul is gone,” one friend wrote on Facebook.

“Thank you for always being a little bundle of light.

“Your loss will be felt so deeply in our community and your presence will be missed dearly.”

Josh was a talented young footballer who has been remembered as a “good young fellow.”

“He was highly regard by his mates,” Federal MP Darren Chester told 9NEWS.

Senior Sergeant Phillip Bogle said the car had been torn into a few pieces when it struck the tree.

“It’s a pretty horrific scene,” he said.

Authorities said the trio were at a party earlier in the night and alcohol and excessive speed of over 100km/h contributed to the crash.

“It’s a recipe for disaster,” Snr Sgt Bogle said.

“Kids think that they’re unstoppable but they’re not.”

Snr Sergeant Bogle, who knew the 18-year-old driver, said she was a “nice, young, vibrant girl”.

“[She was] just a kid that wanted to have a good time.”

“It’s such a tragic thing for a small country town.”

At Beaufort, a man and woman were also killed on the Western Highway after their ute veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided with a truck.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 9.30am.

The truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
