Vic student leaves hospital after crash

A 12-year-old girl injured when an out-of-control car smashed into a group of students at a Melbourne high school has been released from hospital.

Six children were injured, one seriously, when a woman in her 70s drove her car through a fence and onto a sports ground at Blackburn High School just before 2pm on Monday.

The 12-year-old girl suffered potential head and spinal injuries and was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital, but she was released on Tuesday.

The crash occurred while up to 100 students were on the oval for lunch.

Two students were taken to the Box Hill hospital with minor injuries and another was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The driver of the car was interviewed by police on Monday and investigations into the crash are continuing, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

The woman behind the wheel of the car was not seriously injured, but was taken to hospital as a precaution.
