Geelong man dies after being hit by cow

A Victorian man has died after being hit by a runaway cow.

The 72-year-old was trying to catch the beast after it escaped from a Geelong saleyard, leaving traffic chaos in its wake.

The Highton man was knocked to the ground and lost consciousness in the November 9 incident on Vines Road in Geelong, dying in hospital 10 days later.

Two bus passengers were also treated for minor injuries after the bus was forced to brake suddenly for the animal.

Police continue to investigate the incident and want to speak with a female nurse who helped the man at the scene, and a girl who was also trying to catch the cow.
