The future of passenger services at Melbourne's second biggest airport is secure for another 10 years after Jetstar agreed to increase services and routes at Avalon.

Premier Daniel Andrews says his government's agreement with the airline will see Jetstar flights at Avalon Airport rise from five to seven per day and add two new domestic destinations.

"This partnership means more flights to more destinations, and will create jobs for Geelong and the region," he said in a statement.

Mr Andrews said the deal would save 200 jobs and lay the groundwork for a potential future expansion, including with future international carriers.

One-third of all arrivals into Avalon are tourists and the extra services will see about 700 additional visitors a week arrive in the region, he said.
