Fourth person charged over Vic loan fraud

The wife of a Melbourne man accused of fraudulently obtaining $100 million in bank loans has faced court on a similar offence.

Poker player William Jordanou, 58, and accountants Scott Arthur, 44, and Robert Zaia, 55, each face more than 140 dishonesty charges after allegedly using false documents to receive loans worth about $100 million.

Jordanou's wife, Suzanne, 54, faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday on a single charge of obtaining financial advantage by deception.

Court documents allege she took out two loans totalling $1.1 million in May with false pay slips.

Prosecutor Jonathan Manning told the court her method of operation was similar to that of the three men.

The court has previously heard William Jordanou was acting as a financial adviser to Zaia and Arthur's accounting firm when they received the loans.

Prosecutors allege that false tax documents, letters of employment and invoices were provided to the bank to obtain loans on 40 occasions.

The Jordanous, of Narre Warren, Arthur, of Rowville, and Zaia, of Lysterfield, have been bailed to face a further committal mention on October 20.
