Case of ex Vic education boss adjourned

The case of a former Victorian education department boss charged with conspiring to steal millions of dollars from public schools has been adjourned.

Nino Napoli, his cousin Carlo Squillacioti, brother Robert Napoli and sister-in-law Dominica Napoli, were all listed to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Tuesday but the matters were adjourned until November.

Napoli is charged with multiple offences, including conspiracy to defraud, dealing with proceeds of crime, furnishing false documents, and perverting the course of justice.

The charges follow an Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission investigation, which claimed at least $1.9 million was channelled to Napoli's family and associates between 2007 and 2014.

It is alleged the money was used for payment of excessive hospitality, travel and personal items, including a toupee for Napoli worth thousands of dollars.

The case was adjourned until November 10 for a further committal mention hearing.
