Firies warn footy fans to check their BBQ

Firefighters are warning footy fans to check their barbecues ahead of the AFL grand final, with 350 barbecue-related fires across the state last year.

The CFA and MFB are urging people to check loose connections, gas hoses that have visibly deteriorated or cylinders that look damaged.

"These can lead to fires or explosions with consequences ranging from a nasty shock to serious injury or even death," MFB Commander Andrew O'Connell said.
