Fires have torn through three separate properties near Melbourne overnight, with up to $200,000 worth of damage suffered by one home alone.

A blaze in Heidelberg began around 7pm last night and gutted the residential brick home.

A 25-year-old man, who was home at the time, was taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters were able to bring the inferno under control within 15 minutes, however police estimated repairing the damage will cost the owners up to $200,000.

In nearby Reservoir, a car parked inside a shed caught alight and ripped through the property, however nobody was home at the time.

Earlier this morning in Ringwood, a fire began in a home with four people sleeping inside.

Authorities believe the blaze began near a fireplace inside the property. All occupants escaped unharmed.

Investigations remain ongoing at all three scenes.
