Fire forces Melb unit block evacuation

Thirty residents had to flee a Melbourne three-storey block of units after an apartment on the top floor caught alight.

The MFB was called shortly before 6.30pm to the Plenty Road units in Preston, with 22 firefighters getting the blaze under control within 30 minutes.

The fire was contained to the lounge room of the unit and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
