Fire engulfs unoccupied Melbourne house

A fire has engulfed an unoccupied house in Melbourne's west in suspicious circumstances.

The blaze at the Vine Street address in Braybrook took hold about 11.30pm on Thursday with the weatherboard house well alight when crews arrived.

The house was unoccupied and the Metropolitan Fire Brigade says the fire is suspicious.

Police will investigate on Friday morning.
