Fire at Melbourne power station

A fire has broken out at a Melbourne power station but firefighters are on standby until the electricity is switched off.

Metropolitan Fire Brigade crews are on standby at Richmond Electrical Terminal Station, where 1000 litres of oil are on fire following an explosion about 4pm on Tuesday.

"This fire can't be attacked until it is confirmed that the power has been isolated," MFB said in a statement.
