Victorians affected by recent wild weather and flash flooding could be offered disaster relief of up to $32,000.

Several homes and businesses were damaged when storms swept through the Bendigo, Maroondah, Mornington and Whitehorse regions at the beginning of January.

Stores were forced to close in Bendigo's CBD as rain pelted down on January 9 and part of a ceiling fell in at a shopping centre at Kangaroo Flat.

Affected residents will be offered financial assistance while they recover, the state and commonwealth governments announced on Tuesday.

Payments of up to $520 per adult and $260 per child will be issued for food, shelter and clothing.

Up to $31,950 will be offered per household for clean-up costs, emergency accommodation and repairs.
