Feds plan for Hazelwood closure

A bailout package for the Latrobe Valley is reportedly being developed by the federal government in preparation for the Hazelwood power station closure.
It is considering bringing forward capital works projects to help Gippsland cope with the coal-fired power station closure, News Corp reports.
French multinational energy company Engie in May told a senate committee in France it was considering closing or selling the power station and mine.

In late September, an Engie spokesman told AAP that "no decision has been made" over an imminent closure.
Up to 1000 jobs could be lost if the Hazelwood plant closes.
