Fake Whiteleys in storage pending appeals

Fake Brett Whiteley paintings sold for millions by a Melbourne art restorer and an art dealer will be kept in storage as the pair contemplate an appeal.

Mohamed Aman Siddique and Peter Gant were found guilty by a Victorian Supreme Court jury last week on charges of obtaining and attempting to obtain financial advantage by selling the forged Whiteley paintings.

The men returned to court on Tuesday and defence counsel requested the paintings - two Lavender Bay works and a third artwork called Through the Window - be kept in police storage pending any appeals against the convictions.
