Fake gun on Melbourne street, man arrested

A man is accused of waving a fake firearm at pedestrians on a busy Melbourne street corner.

Police received several calls about the man pointing the imitation weapon at passers-by at the intersection of Malvern Road and Chapel Street at South Yarra before 9am on Tuesday.

A 27-year-old Prahran man was arrested for being drunk in a public place and remains in police custody.
