Experts push for domestic violence leave

Experts will continue to push for millions of workers to get 10 domestic violence leave days each year in a case before the Fair Work Commission.

The ACTU launched the case in Melbourne on Monday, calling for all workers covered by award rates to be given 10 days paid family and domestic violence leave, and it will continue on Tuesday.

It would mean a national approach to cover more than two million workers, the ACTU says.

The ACTU's lawyers argued workplaces are already losing money each year due to domestic violence, which is estimated to cost the Australian economy $22 billion each year.

More experts will deliver their opinions on the need for domestic violence leave when the case continues on Tuesday morning.
